Under the Nose is a delightful shop sitting below Vroman's Nose in beautiful Schoharie County. The shop offers a blend of food and drinks, everything from soup and sandwiches, to homemade fudge, ice-cream and hot or cold drinks. There is also an assortment of homemade cookies, Dawn had a gluten free maple vanilla chip, with a homemade caramel drizzle, that she loved while I had a snickerdoddle cookie which I throughly enjoyed. Regrettably no pictures of said cookies exist because they didn't last long enough. Did I mention the homemade fudge though, Under the Nose offers free samples so you can try some before deciding, how great is that! What better way to start or end a hike up the Nose then a bite to eat (or fudge). While there, browse the gifts available, there's a wide variety available, from quilts, clothing, pottery, children's toys and books (written and illustrated by owner Lin herself) to hubby Tom's "Tommy's cookie mix" , so you can make Under the Nose cookies at home. So whether you are hiking Vroman's Nose or in the area, I highly recommend Under the Nose.

Visited this cafe after our hike to Vroman's nose. They had good vegetarian options as well. The cookies and Danish were amazing. Had a great time having lunch sitting outside. However, there were a lot of flies and it was annoying. I would suggest them to keep some lemongrass scented candles to keep the flies away!

Small cafe tucked away by a loop trail in the hills. Very nice and clean. The owners were closing up lunch at 2, but let us order lunch when we got there at 2:20. We were very greatful. Their cookie selection is amazing. We each bought a variety to try and I was pleased with each one. Try the coconut cookie, amazing. They also sell a variety of fudge. We were all pleased with the variety of fudge and the taste. If I'm ever back up that way, I'm definitely coming back. Maybe get a look at that loop trail next door the next time.

The location is great given it's right next to the Vroman's nose hiking trail. My husband and I went here for lunch after hiking the trail. As vegetarians, there were more than enough lunch options for us. We got the smashed chickpea wrap, which was both fresh and tasty. We found their food to be extremely affordable considering you get a side of chips, drink and a cookie when you buy a salad, wrap or panini. I tried their blueberry danish which was absolutely delicious! The only suggestion I have for this place is to provide indoor dining options (they do have room for it inside), because their set up outside is benches on the grass, which is inviting to a lot of insects. It would also be nice if they allowed restroom usage for their customers especially given their location. But otherwise, food was great. Would highly recommend!

My husband noticed the gourmet cookie sandwiches on a sign on the way home. We turned around to check it out and I'm glad we did. The owner was so nice. I bought one of her books for my grandson and my husband and I both got the chocolate chip and chewy ginger ice cream sandwich. Absolutely delicious! Will definitely visit Under the Nose again...:)

A lovely little shop and cafe. The menu is small mostly sandwiches, wraps, paninis, and salad but the food is good. Large selection of homemade fudge and cookies. Get the ice cream sandwich made with any two cookies of your choice. The walls are lined with local art, photography, and handicrafts. Great place to go after a quick hike up the nose

Great variety of fudge flavors. Proprietor was friendly and welcoming. Very reasonably prices on some very tasty goodies. Everyone enjoyed the sweets. Highlight for me was the lemon chiffon fudge but the homemade snickerdoodle cookies were also amazing.

A great stop for a treat after hiking Vromens Nose. The cookies were delicious & the owners were so nice and friendly. The inside has handmade items and other gifts in addition to sandwiches, cookies & drinks. I purchased a cookie mix and made it last week and they turned out amazing!
